Indian Union Muslim League is an Islamist political party in India. The party is recognised by the Election Commission of India as party in the state of Kerala, India. The base of the party lies in Kerala. Since the party was initiallly created in federal form it was registered and affiliated to the Central Committee of IUML. The party has been contesting collections in Kerala as the 'Muslim League Kerala State Committee'(MLKSC) even though the name 'Indian Union Muslim League' is registered at the Electoral Commission. Both IUML, the central committee and MLKSC, the State committee of Kerala have merged and now there is no federal set up in IUML and the party has been centralised throughout India as one party and one central committee - IUML.
Inspite of League being a powerful pro-Muslim community oriented party, it has decided to maintain its adherence to Indian Union after Independence, when the original Muslim League went to Pakistan. The IUML is the only Pro-Muslim party, which declared its dedication and loyalty to India in post-independent India. The party has strong grounds mostly in Malappuram district of Kerala. They form the second largest party within UDF.
A particular bunch of Muslims in Kerala are sometimes regarded as the supporters of Indian Union Muslim League. The leadership line of the group and the party comes from the Thangal family line who are Yemeni Arab origins. The present supreme leader of the group, "Panakkad Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal" and is the president of Kerala state unit of Indian Union Muslim League.
Islamism :
Islamism or Political Islam is a set of philosophies which says that "Islam should guide social and political as well as personal life". Leading Islamist thinkers accentuate the operation of Sharia (Islamic law); of pan-Islamic political unity; and of the particular removal of non-Muslim, especially Western military, economic, political, social, or cultural influences in the Muslim world which are believed to be conflicting with Islam.
Islamic democracy :
Islamic democracy refers to a political philosophy that looks to apply Islamic principles to public policy within a communal foundation. Three kinds of Muslim democracies can be recognized in general in Muslim world. The basis of this difference has to do with how effectively Islam is integrated into the duties of the state.
1. A autonomous civil state which does not admit any religion as its state religion as in Turkey and Turkmenistan.
2. A autonomous country state which accepts Islam as its state religion and a source of regulation, such as Malaysia and Maldives. Only few religious values are integrated into public law, since Islam is not the only source of law.
3. A autonomous state which aims to institute Sharia and offers more absolute involvement of Islam into the affairs of the state. Iran is the only firm defender of this form.
Development and Care :
United Democratic Front (UDF) in alliance with Indian Union Muslim League released its manifesto for the Kerala polls. The Manifesto included “Vikasanavum Karuthalum” (Development and Care).
